Hide & Seek

I don’t know about you, but the game of “Hide and Seek” was a lot of fun for me.  I am, of course, referring to the children’s game in which one player closes his/her eyes giving the others time to hide.  After counting to ten (10), the child opens his/her eyes and goes to find the other players.  Although I no longer play the children’s game of “Hide and Seek”, I wanted to share with you some of the key values I learned from the game.

Depending upon the skill or creativity of the players, sometimes it would take me longer to find them in their hiding places.  Despite how difficult it was for me to find the players, the game taught me to “never quit”.   Instead, diligently pursue and seek until I found who I was looking for.  When it was my turn to hide, playing the game also taught me how to find my “hiding” place, a secret place where I too could take refuge and not be easily found.  Again, the game was a lot of fun for me when I was a child.  When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a woman, I put away childish things.

I stopped playing the children’s game of “Hide & Seek” a long time ago.   Now a woman after God’s own heart, I have discovered new meanings for the words “hide” and “seek”.  One day, I read in His Word that I would find Him, if I would seek Him with all my heart and with all my soul. After that I read, ‘Seek My face”, my heart said to Him, “Your face Lord, I will seek”.

As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God.  O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.  At this point in my life, I don’t have to wait for anyone to count to ten (10) because I long to be in His presence.  In His presence there is fullness of joy, peace and love.  Furthermore, I have but one desire of the Lord…that I may dwell in the house of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.   As I continue to seek Him with my whole heart and with all my soul, I am a witness, that in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He hides me and sets me high upon a rock.  And now my head is lifted up above my enemies all around me.  That’s why I will always offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle.  I will sing, yes, I will always worship and sing praises to the Lord.

I have discovered He is my hiding place; He preserves me from trouble and surrounds me with songs of deliverance.  After all the seeking and “temporary” hiding places, none can compare.  I have no doubt; He alone is my hiding place!   I believe this is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek His face unconditionally.  Let all those who seek Him continue to rejoice and be glad in Him.  Let all that love His salvation say continually, the Lord be magnified!

Can I get a WITNESS?
